Jacques Barraband (1767-1809) was a French zoological and botanical illustrator, renowned for his life-like renderings of tropical birds.
Barraband produced a series of watercolours of birds and flowers between 1801 and 1804 by direct commission of Napoleon Bonaparte. He also provided the illustrations for François Le Vaillant's Histoire naturelle des perroquets (parrots), Histoire naturelle des Oiseaux des paradis et des rolliers, (Birds of Paradise and rollers), and Histoire naturelle des promerops (toucans).
